Dermal Epidermal Joint
DEJ stands for dermal-epidermal junction, which is the interface between the epidermis and dermis of the skin. It’s made up of keratinocytes and dermal fibroblasts, and is a key factor in skin aging.
As people age, proteins in the DEJ break down, which can increase visible signs of aging.
