MICRONEEDLING
What is microneedling?
This treatment is also known as collagen induction therapy because it’s known for boosting collagen production in the skin, which can make it beneficial for several skin concerns including fine lines and wrinkles.
What areas can you target?
Microneedling corrects acne scars, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, pore size, targets skin elasticity. You can treat textural concerns on the face, neck, hands and décolletage.
During microneedling the skin goes into a repair mode that triggers the body to produce new collagen as well as elastin, which is another protein found in the skin that provides our skin with desirable elasticity. Microneedling also encourages the growth of fibroblasts, epithelial and endothelial cells, which can equate to a more even skin tone and a healthy glow.
While results can usually be seen after the first treatment, the best and most lasting results come from a series of microneedling treatments spaced at regular intervals.
What happens after my treatment?
The initial 72 hours post-procedure are the most critical.
Avoid direct sun and heat. This includes simple day-to-day tasks such as gardening, cooking over a hot stove for a long period of time, sitting next to a bonfire or fireplace, etc.
Discontinue use of any Alpha-Hydroxy products. You may resume your home care regimen when skin is no longer flaking and peeling, or on the advice of your practitioner.
Use hydrating products. Products rich in soothing and healing ingredients are best to encourage new, healthy cell growth. Peptides, antioxidants, stem cells, Vitamin A, C, and E, and growth factors work very well.
Use sunscreen. Sun care products should be applied no less than every 30-90 minutes. DO NOT go outside without sun protection (even on a cloudy day).
No scratching or peeling.
Limit exercise the first week.
Drink plenty of water.
